Like you really want to hear them.
On my way to Orlando from Daytona for what else but another turtle/tortoise conference we, a friend and I, found this critter heading in the direction of the highway. This was a thrill for me because I just get off on this sort of thing(I hope I never grow up).

And, of course, you can't omit the cursory close up shot...

THEN the good samaritan who was riding with us pointed the healthy tortoise in the direction of the open brush (oxymoron, I know) and SAVED the little critters life.

We all KNOW this is not leagal in Fla. but I have this phrase that has stuck with me over the years that was passed on to me by a friend... illegal is a sick bird... (sorry)

I see many many gophers in my travels from Tampa to Orlando and back. Unfortunately, most of them are dead on the side of the road when I see them. I'm glad you broke the law and actually touched and moved him to a safer place. He is a beauty.

Nowhere does it say that it is me that is moving that tortoise. Now, if it is against the law for me to photograph someone else who is then I might be guilty as charged.

Hi EJ,
I was also at your presentation. I enjoyed it very much. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person in Florida breaking the law. I've rescued 4 gophers this year alone and will continue to do so when I see them in danger. Call me a rebel.
