New here, hello! And a question.

I am a long time lurker, first time poster, but I am excited to be here and learning so much! I'm currently keeping a few pairs of Tegus and other large lizards and I want very much to find some high quality Ctenosaura pectinata and maybe some Cyclura. I live on a bit of land and have the ability to do some nice outdoor habitats but I don't want to waste a lot of time and money in trial and error. I would like to use coated chain-link based on reading some posts on down in this forum.

Does anyone have detailed pics and/or descriptions of how to build a bank of cages using this material?

Also, does anyone have any good references on where to buy top notch Cyclura and Ctenosaura and their contact info?

Thanks and I look forward to posting here frequently!

I find pvc coated chain link best for cyclura and 1x1 pvc coated welded wire for ctenosaura. If using 1x1 welded wire and you want it to last forever, use galvanized pipe as the the frame as you would for chain-link. You will need to attach it with steel twist ties or metal screws which are more difficult. When using chain-link kennels, it is best to have it on a concrete slab because these enclosures are extremely heavy, and may sink into the ground unevenly making your enclosures look sloppy. The welded wire enclosures are best put in a substrate of drainrock covered by decomposed granite. This allows for good draining. There is much more detail to cover but not enough time to do it here.

For cyclura try herpnut.com or there should be some folks on here getting rid of babies, seeing it's season for such.

Check out the site wadavidson.com it has all sizes and lengths of rubber coated wire. I bought a 100ft. roll that had 1x1 in. openings to make my rhinos encloser that was 8ft. wide 8ft. long and 6ft. high.

Sorry I didn't have a better picture. You can kinda see the wire around the encloser.
