Uh.... is this normal??

I have had my anoles for a couple months.. I had sand in there home. But I soon got sick of this because the moisture was molding it. So I was told I can put plain white paper towels down. Well.. I did that. I layerd them to make them over an inch high as told.. and now my lizards (mostly my female) is hiding between them. She keeps her head popped out.. but I dunno if this is good for her or not? I'm going to post a picture to show you what I mean.

just use reptile bark... paper towel is for baby geckos and such, not anoles...
