Some people don't consider dry ice to be a proper source of CO2 for euthanizing rodents but I haven't looked into it enough to make a personal judgement, and I'll leave that up to you. Here's a link to Google search results that should contain plenty of info for ya.

Have a good one!

Good deal! Glad to have been able to help.

Not to be gross, but, anything beats slammin' 'em.

Take care!

For the dry Ice method, I used a a small sterlite container with holes poked into it around the top of the container, Then I got a bowl full of water, put dry ice in it,Then I put a plastic cover that had holes punched in it to allow for gas flow over the bowl and then put the mice in and put the lid on. Came back in ten minutes and they were all gone. I have done it twice now and it has worked out really well. Hope this helps

A little advice that might improve your results....

Pulverize about half the dri-ice.

(inside a few folds of newsprint, hit the ice block through the paper with a hammer...or the heel of your boot. This is an easy way to pulverize the dri ice.)

Pour the pulverized half of dri ice in with the chunk half of dri ice.

Then pour the water into the container with the Chunk and the pulverized ice.

The Pluverized dri ice has more surface area...and this acts as a catalyst to speed the reaction...releasing more CO2 initially.
Then the Chunk of dri ice will react more slowly and will continue to keep the CO2 levels in the appropriate density range....until the feeder rodents succumb.

CO2 is a fairly effiecient and humane way to euthanize the rodents....provided you keep the density in the proper range long enough to effectivly kill the rodents.

However, it is not as effective (especially at killing PINKY rats/mice) when the concentration of CO2 is less dense.

Pinky size feeders can go for longer periods of time in an anoxic state....(without oxygen).
They sometimes will require larger ammounts of pulverized dri ice....added to the water mid-way through the initial reaction.

Chunk Dri ice also often forms a shield or barrier of regular ice (frozen water) around itself when partially submerged in liquid water....slowing or sometimes even stopping the reaction. Fully submerging the dri ice usually solves this problem.

Hope that helps.

Larger opperations should strongly consider getting a CO2 tank.
and designing a gassing chamber.

It is certainly out of taste...
but we once thought of a terrible business name...
instead of Auschwitz....Mouschwitz....

I know, I know...that was REALLY BAD!

Do NOT use that as your business name....it really is NOT very funny.

What would I need to make a chamber? I am thinking a paintball tank, a remote coil hose, and a plastic container. If I get these items, is there a way to turn on the gass or would I need to buy a lever or something to add on?

The remote coil has a valve you can use to control the gas flow.
