Iguanas and bugs?

ZTOUS Oct 02, 2007 06:53 PM

I seem to be getting conflicting information as to weather or not a Iguana can eat bugs. I read an article awhile ago saying that they were not strictly herbivours and ate bugs and sometimes egss in nature but now looking into it further I have found other places where it is being said that they can't properly digest things.

Eating a couple bugs a week will not be detrimental to a baby iguana (I'm talking like 3 crickets a week), but not enough good vegetation and too many bugs can cause malformations and other bad problems. They are harder to digest than vegetation. You should stick to greens and just forget the bugs, as there really isn't any good reason to feed them to the iguana.
