housing for a young gtp

phantompoo Oct 03, 2007 09:58 AM

The plastic storage bins used in racks would be the easiest I suppose. However, I'm looking for something where I can easily view the animal and have a simple, visually pleasing setup.

I have free rack space and a suitable size bin, I just would like see if anyone had any alternative ideas, opinions, experiences on housing a 3 month old gtp? Although money is not an issue, I don't want to spend extra time and aggravation experimenting.

Example: if not using the rack and the heat tape, what other store bought heater/heat pads work well and are reliable? or are there any "pre-made" setups for small critters of the same needs? (i saw the black jungle terrariums, and although too big and screen topped, seem plausible for an adult gtp after some mods)

Worst comes to worst the rack setup is ready to go. Any advice is very much appreciated

thanks

Well the inherit problem with a "visually pleasing setup" is that its not always the best for the animal, however to answer your question www.totalviewcages.com have some nice looking cages. FYI I have never owned or have viewed one up close and cant personally recommend them.

To add to your question the site has custom cages maybe they will work with you and you could use a radiant heat panel which is the best heating solution for a GTP.

that is exactly what i was looking for, thanks

yea, when i said "visually appealing" i just meant something a bit sharper than a sterilite bin. That acrylic cage with a perch is almost the exact picture of what i had in my head

prices arent too bad either

thanks again

I have a room full of them.

You can see the size i use. Personaly i would never put a 3 month old into one of my smaller enclosures. Wait a year, trust me (which i doubt you will ).
