I just witnessed my Leo having what appeared to be a seizure. I am going to take him into the vet and have quarantined him. But has anyone else had this happen?

I'm not sure its the same, since you haven't really described the symptoms, but I do have leo who I believe has had seizures. She almost certainly has some sort of neurological problem. She is sometimes uncoordinated, has poor balance, leaps on occasion to nowhere (unprovoked), and I have seen her flip onto her back for time, maybe do some twitching, flip back, seem dazed and confused, and then back to her usual abnormal self. She also will not put on weight, no matter how much she eats. Rest assured that she is alive and well otherwise, and I've had her for several years. Incidentally, she seems intolerant of other leos. That may or may not be related to her other qualities. Is any of this similar to what you observed?

No not really. I have had him for say 4 or 5 months now. Got him when he was tiny. He has more than tripled in size and weight. BUT, he has not had much of an appetite in the past few weeks. A mealworm here a wax there. All in all very little really. I went to feed him tonight and found him lying in the corner of his cage. He is usually in his hide. Then i noticed that his mouth opened completely, like lower jaw completely extended. His body tighten into a C-like shape, then his tail and appendages started to shake, like a seizure. It lasted for about a minute, then he was post ictal. Just lying there relaxed and very exhausted. He is now up and moving around.
What concerns me the most is that he was in a cage with a lrge female and their cage was in my snake room with my 25 snakes.

Wow, that's tough. I have seen leos extend their jaws wide open around feeding time, I have generally attributed this do superworms not completely crunched before they went down. They sometimes do a little shake, and turn to try to strike their bellies. I'd be more inclined to attribute the symptoms you describe to some sort of disease or toxicity cause, rather than straight neurological, especially with the diminished appetite. Is the female doing well? As a side note, imo, you should not be keeping a 4-6 month old male with a female. I think I have heard somewhere that seizures can be indicative of crypto, but have no personal experience or corroboration on that point. Do keep me updated after your vet visit tommorrow!

I comment not on anything but the mouth being open. I'm sure, with 25 snakes, you know your temperatures well enough, but could your gecko have over heated and been trying to vent?
It's just a thought, don't get angry. :

No, i am sure that the temps are not too high. There is a rather large thermal gradiant in his enclosure as well. I do not handle him often so exposure to toxins are slim.
Crypto is what scares me.
