Black headed python diet???

tsusnakeguy Oct 03, 2007 09:32 PM

Ok lets just say I am taking care of a black headed python that was eating 2 mice. I fully think it is big enough to eat a medium rat. I am wondering if you think a black headed python that is big enough around to handle a medium rat, should be eating a medium rat?

Well, if it's big enough to handle a medium rat isn't it able to handle one? I would feed it one and see if it can handle it. I'm trusting that you know enough about snakes that you wouldn't feed an outrageously big meal to a snake that can't handle it. If you think it can deal with it, go for it. Good luck.

How big's the snake? My Blackheads are absolutely voracious and would eat every day if I'd let 'em! At 3.5 - 4', they routinely take medium rats (depending on your definition of a med).

Well I work at a zoo and we just got the animal in from another zoo so I wanted to know the opinion of people that have owned these snakes. Thank you all for your advice.
