white scales on hypo..

Bergmantis Oct 04, 2007 12:36 PM

I have an 05 hypo boa and I sometimes see this on other hypos..Near the lower half of her body, you can see the white skin between the scales. Is this a result of over feeding or normal on hypos because the white skin is easier to see? She normally eats a small meal every 5 days.

Thanks,

Mat

the white skin beneath the scales showing through between them, as if the snake was stuffed, skin stretching...
and the white coloration coming up the sides from the belly...

both are fairly typical in hypos.

obviously, after having fed, or while she is curled up and whatnot, it would be more visible.

she looks like she could be on a schedule more like a medium rat every 7 days or a smaller large every 10 days or so...

take care, joe

...depends on what is being refered to. The white spaces between scales, would be what Joe is talking about. If you mean the white scales near the belly...that trait seems to be common on Orangetail hypos. I haven't seen it on many Salmon hypos, unless they have some Orangetail in them.

Here is my Orangetail...

Im still inconclusive with the phenomenom but Im working on it. Kindof...I sold the best super I got from him this year and she was the only one that had a few white scales on the top of her head. I dont know if Ill keep any of the offspring around long enough to play with it but I sure am curious about the potential???
