Caramel Pieds anyone?

royalkreationz Oct 05, 2007 12:01 AM

just curious if anyone is working with that mutation. I am setting up for it in the near future. I am going to concentrate on Albinos, Pieds, Carmels, Albino Pieds, Caramel Pieds and Fires. I just got my last co-doms sold and shipped today. Glad to be out of that part of the market. I think they are cool, but I want what everyone else doesn't have.

Fires are co-dom...

Caramel pieds would be hot -- I just hope they keep the patterned areas and don't go solid white like spider pieds did.

I realized that I said no co-doms after I posted. I am only working with fires. No cinnamons, pastels, mojos, or anything like that. I think everyone needs a white snake project.

I agree, and fires make the hottest ones. They're on my list to get this spring, a buddy of mine here in Wisconsin has a fire male going with a LOT of females this year, so we'll be trading up once I get my clown and g-stripe clutches hatched and sorted. I wonder what a fire clown or fire g-stripe would look like?

Will be used to stop the animal from loosiing it's color as it gets older. I think the fires to anything will improve the overall coloration over time. The white snakes are just a bonus. I think a fire pied or fire albino would be cool. I also like a super fire albino. It should be all white with white or orange eyes and a red pupil.

Why no pastels and cinnys??? the super cinny pied and the super pastel pied and the pewter pied! those would be awesome!...
Of course my dream is the ghost pied, caramel pied... of course dreamsicle... axanthic pieds would be cool as babies at least.

everyone has them, and I want to work with very specific animals. I would love to work with a lavender albino line, but I will have to wait until the prices come down a bit.

I think not! Dom/Co-dom are really good in that you can cross them into recessives to make some cool snakes. I think its a mistake to give up on dominants/co-dominants because they can play a good role in recessives.

I am breeding for my own personal satisfaction. I will sell what I don't need, but everything else is for me. I am not trying to supply people getting into the hobby and compete with hundreds of others that do the same. Not that there is anything wrong with that at all, but I am producing what I want. I hope I haven't stepped on any toes or have made anyone think that there is something wrong with pastels, cinnys, mojos, or anything else, just not what I want to work with.

Nothing wrong with feeling like you have graduated to a higher level of the hobby, but not everyone agrees on what is best..The pastel piebalds, hypo pastels, pastel clowns, etc are really extreme in comparison to simple recessives, and there are numerous others that have yet to be produced...

I never said I was at a higher level than anyone else. I am just working with what I want and it is simple as that. I hope everyone keeps producing those others, cause I love to look at them.

Jody, I partly agree with you in that double recessive projects is the key for the future in the ball python market.

Of course, everybody is on the dom/co-dom bandwagon and producing quadruple visuals and more being the goal, I find most all look relatively the same. They are however very valuable in crossing projects!

On the other hand, the ones that are taking the longer route to double recessives which are also co-dom, a pastel double-het caramel glow for instance will be much more ahead of the pack in the future. When one can avoid double hets that are phenotypicaly (sp?) wild type looking and offer instead a co-dom that is double-het will be in the drivers seat.

Too many people neglecting the recessives when in a few years, dom/co-dom projects will be a dime a dozen.

After all, arent't humans just about instant gratification and profit
