Has anyone heard about...............

royalkreationz Oct 05, 2007 01:35 AM

The television series about a certain ball python breeder? I have heard that the series will be similar to American Chopper and Miami Ink, but dedicated to ball pythons. I also heard that some UFC fighters joined this breeder at his display at the recent NARBC show in Anaheim, CA to promote the show and be a part of the filming of an episode. If anyone has heard about this, let us know what you know. I can only imagine what this would do for the awareness of our hobby.

you got it on the price thing animals will go back to prices of two years ago because we won't be able to produce enough to supply the demand

All I can tell you, is it's with someone who's into the UFC fighting and has some pics with them on his myspace!

RussellLe Oct 05, 2007 04:13 AM

YaY, Im Back!!!! Hey Jody, I heard about it about 2 months back but not sure as to if he has got everything set up yet. If he does though that would be an amazing show that I know I'd watch. As far as prices coming back up, I think all of us in the Ball Python market would LOVE it. Except when we want a specific kind that is just way too expensive, then I'll HATE IT!!! LoL.

panhead Oct 05, 2007 07:49 AM

It's not a rumor. There has been some taping done. I know there are some segments with breeders, keepers, dealers, NFL players, NHL players, UFC fighters, music/band players, etc. Will it get aired or not is only known by the "host" of this idea. Maybe he'll post here and let us know what's up. I was at his place about a month or so ago for a taping with my friend Brent Burns of the Minnesota Wild NHL. I guess time will tell!!!!

junkie. How are things in Africa, or are you back stateside now. I can't wait till you finish the Ophiophagus Hanna study. I would love for you to email it to me so I can read it. Sadly, Hannibal who was my friend's 16' male passed away recently at about 16 years of age. He was a beautiful specimen, and will be hard to replace. I guess he was about at the end of his life span at that old of an age. Keep in touch. If you need my email again, shoot me one from here and I will get it back to you.

Did you read the prior posts? They pretty much say it. Anyway, I think all of us in the Ball Python world would LOVE a show like this. It would be AWESOME!!! What a way to get the spotlight on this hobby in a good way.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

melindaste Oct 05, 2007 09:48 AM

Read ColdThumb's post. I know He had a cough in there.

tristan Oct 05, 2007 10:31 AM

That would be sweet. You're right about the myspace page, I am a "friend" with this person there and the UFC pics are sweet.

I'm a big fan of the UFC myself and a reality show about breeding ball pythons would be a dream come true! The idea of mixing it with other things would only increase the overall interests.

Any ideas on which channel it would air?

Okay everyone, I’ve stayed pretty tight lipped about this for many reasons. Here’s what I can tell you for now, there is plenty that I need to keep to myself for a little while longer(sorry). Yes, we have been taping for the last few months, yes there have been discussions and interest with a major network, can’t mention the name, but I’m sure it’s not hard to figure out. We have some great stuff in the “can” as Bruce mentioned (thanks for coming out Bruce and Brent). I’ve been working on two angles for about two years now, the network side and the internet side. The whole idea for me pursuing this was to shine the light on what we all love to do. The network side is a very tricky business, you can have a great idea and there’s just no time slot for a new project, or they can have a time slot that needs to be filled and they’ll run with something that’s not that cool of an idea. It’s a lot of politics and a lot of hurry up and wait. I’ll keep working as hard as I can to promote this project and the industry. I’ll also do my best to keep everyone posted, but it’ll probably be a few months before anything concrete can be said on the network side.
As for the internet side, I’m working on a deal with a pod casting company that is run by some major media guys, like the past president of Nickelodeon TV, Execs from Spike, MTV etc… pretty big shooters. We are filming now and hopefully things will work out (looking good)and in the next couple of months we’ll be launching weekly pod casts that will be promoted all over the web (youtube, myspace,etc..). They’ve been averaging over a Million hits a week on most of their networks now. So we’ll all be getting out to a ton of people. If it all goes well we’ll want community involvement, not only hopefully with everyone watching, but also with as many people sending video clips, comments etc.. that will get put into the pod cast, the more hits we get the more they will promote. It’s really some pretty exciting stuff that they’re doing there.
That’s pretty much all I can say for now. I’ll keep trying my best to add demand for all of our living art! Feel free to e-mail me if you want to ask any other questions, I’ll do my best answer the ones I can, Brian (BHB)

I think I speak for us all when I say that we appreciate what you do for our hobby and passion. You are a voice for so many of us small time guys that aspire to be successful breeders on a hobby or business level. I wasn't trying to out you, and I hope you don't mind that I mentioned this. I did it in response to so many of the "market is crashing" posts hoping that people would realize how much potential you give to all of us with your exposure. It will be nice when there are not enough snakes in the classifieds to fill the demand. Prices will go up and us who have put a lot of hard work, sweat, and years into this hobby will benefit. Not that we are all in it for the money, but that is a nice bonus to having animals that make people's jaws drop. Thank you for the information you did give us, and let us as fellow hobbyists know if there is anything we can do to be of help. I am sure the majority of us will do anything asked, as we would put some effort into this so that you don't have to do all the hard work we will benefit from.

Thanks,
Jody Barnes

Not a problem at all with outing the project. The cameras in Daytona and Anahiem were hard to hide I will be asking a lot from the community if everything goes well, lots of ideas and input to best help our hobby. We are all in this together and it isn't and will never be "just" about our company. I'm really excited about this and I wish I could share everything with everyone, but it shouldn't be too long before I can be less "down low" about things. Thanks for your support! Brian (BHB)

Oh no......I think I just sounded like Robyn from Pro Exotics. What Im trying to say is I think that there will be a full size 3 1/2 foot statue with full ripped abs (pre 2007) and removable 1980's flowing golden hair of Brian Barczyk at the entrance of all future NARBC shows to show our appreciation for inclusion in his reptile porno that he is filming.

If this does go through and the magnitude would be enormous to say the least. Just look at the custom motorcycle industry after Orange County Choppers. Shirts and hats in Walmart along with everybody and their mother buying custom bikes, that industry went through the roof.

All because three little uncapitalised letters.

Pros: if the show is aired on a big network the hobby could see another exploson like when the hobby went online.

lots of possitive attention for snakes in general

cons: we could see an explosion of teens buying balls from petstores

gold-rush (thousands of people trying to get rich with balls causing the market to rise and fall daily)

an influx of wc ball on the market

i know i will watch it
