Looking for market available, functional, attractive, and cost effective cages. Opinions?

mdk Aug 22, 2003 10:27 AM

Unfortunatly my desire for an attractive and functional multi-cage environment far exceeds my ability to build one. I have a variety of snakes including Colbrids and Boids.... Lizards are very likely on the way.....

I have looked at very nice, functional cages including: Neodesha and Boaphile however I dont particularly find them attractive... I would like these to be a highlight in the room so looks count..

I also have looked at Cages by Design and J WOrlds and they seem to err on the other extreme.... beautiful, functional but expensive....

As I said before, custom building is out of the question....

So far, Showcase Cages looks like a reasonable alternaitve but I would love other people's opinion.... also, has anyone practical experience with Showcase Cages.... would love to hear your thoughts....

Thanks in advance,

MDK

I see similar-type questions on this forum so often. You want the perfect cage and it has to be attractive yet inexpensive. Don't know of any that fit that description. Building your own takes an investment in tools and even more in time.

I think Neodesha are the most functional for boas and pythons.
Showcase cages are melamine. Great for dry cages but won't last forever if they get wet. They do look as good in person as on their website though.

Check out some local cabinet-makers. They might be willing to make melamine cages for a fair price.
