Putting Triangulum, Triangulum down fort

Othahorror Oct 05, 2007 10:11 AM

OK I have asked this in a another thread but I am afraid that it may go dead so I am starting my own on the topic.

How do you guys go about putting the E. Milks away for the winter?

Thanks!

I don't keep Eastern Milks but its fairly similar to brumate a honduran.

Feed them lots until Oct 1 or Nov 1... whichever you choose. Keep the heat on normal and don't feed them for 2 weeks so they can clear their gut. After 2 weeks of no feedings you can begin to lower the temperature. Lower the temps throughout about 5 days until it gets down to about 55-58F. Once they are at 56F or so I leave them for 4 months. I check them every week and provide fresh water. I would imagine that easter milks could handle even colder temperatures but I am not 100% sure.

After 4 months brumation I slowly raise temps again over about 5 days up to normal temps. I begin feeding once the temps are back to normal. Start with smaller meals and work up to pretty heavy feedings for females if you are planning on breeding her.

Thanks. He looks about to shed so I assume I should start this process after he sheds?

Also I will use your advice but I hear that snakes around here don't go under till its about 45 degrees, anyone else think this is right?
