?Why do they change their colors?

Zindy Oct 05, 2007 04:02 PM

First, I am Zindy and I am new. I write from Germany and hope you will excuse my terrible english.

The question I like to ask is "Why do some kinds of boas (in my case Hog Island Boas) change their colors from dark to light? I can watch it closely at my own Hog Island Boas but I don't know the reason for that. Can somebody help me with this question?

Thanks a lot.

Zindy

hogg islands do it naturally...

i believe it has something to do with temperature...

the darker color helps them absorb more heat, and the light helps them cool off...

hoggs are known for color change

Thanks for your reply.

The temperature thing is what you can read in several literature. But what I noticed at my boas is some kind of different. I think the coloration of the Hogs is light when they are active. When they are inactive they are dark.

What do other members think?

P.S. Would be nice if someone could correct my terrible english
