Heating

bakeaway Oct 06, 2007 11:13 AM

I was wondering which is better for heating a JCP...ceramic,uth or other? I have a few snakes and they are all in a rack system with uth. But the JCP is in all glass cage with screen top.
Thanks

I was using UTH for my '06 JCP, but I've recently gone to a radiant heat panel.

The temps are WAY more consistent, he's eating better, using less electicity and he seems to be generally in a better mood.

When I was using UTH, I had him in a 2' Vision enclosure, but now have him in a PVC enclosure with the heat panel...

Hi Todd,
Thanks for the reply. He is about 1 1/2 yrs old and I have him in 18" X 18" glass with a screen top. I am moving him in the spring to a large Boaphile tank with a radiant panel. But right now I think I will use a ceramic heater until I move him.

That'll work.

I use a ceramic heat emitter for my olive.

The only downside to them is that because they sit outside of your enclosure, there is a LOT of heat loss and wasted energy...
