feeding multiple mice

snailqueen87 Oct 07, 2007 01:39 PM

When giving a snake more than one mouse in a meal what is the best way to deliver them? I've just started giving two and so far I've given her one, waited til it's about half way down and then put the other one in beside her (gently so I don't spook her).

Would putting two in together confuse her or would that work as well?

(As I'm typing this she's trying to swallow one bum first! She's a bit dense lol)

I always just put them both in at the same time. I hope you are using frozen/thawed or prekilled, as that would not be a good plan if you were feeding live. It does not confuse any of my snakes. They finish one mouse and move directly onto the next.

It would sure make bum first more interesting though!

You could just feed one rat instead of two mice.

Mine takes multiples at once. She kills everything first and then eats. She is a voracious eater and sometimes the first one doesn't even see substrate before it's wrapped up. The only thing is to make sure your Corn follows up and eats them all.

I feed F/T so it's not much of a problem if she doesn't take the second, although she has been fine! Think she's enjoying going back for seconds!
