Reptile Shows

Is it just me or are the IRBA Shows on the west coast getting smaller and smaller every year. I remember when they used to have seminars and special speakers and the whole convention center was filled with many people and there were tons of breeders, and now there are 1/4 of the breeders there used to be and no special speakers or seminars. Anyway just though I would through that out there.

The IRBA shows are suffering a slow death. That's what happens when there is little or no advertising. The crowds get smaller. Vendors barely recover their expenses for the weekend so they don't come back.
The only thing that didn't go down was the expense.
I miss those shows.
Lucky for us that the NARBC show in Anaheim gets better every year.

I've stopped going to the IRBA shows - it just isn't worth my time any more - if they were more local to me I might still go - but to drive out to the Inland Empire or San Diego is a pain considering.

Quite frankly I have been let down by Anaheim NARBC show as well - tho it's by far a bigger better show - the past few years there is a noticeable lack of attendance by "the big guys" - if you're into leopard geckos it's a cool show.

I have talked to a couple of the vendors, and they are just getting fed up with the lack of advertising and the small crowds.

I have pretty much given up on going to the Del Mar shows, although the one at the Fairplex is close enough to me that I can stop by once in a while. They are still very small, and I am usually done perusing within an hour.

I hope something happens, cause those shows, if larger and more well attended, would draw more attention from the public masses and be much better.

Shows all across the country are getting smaller and smaller. You have the internet to thank for that. People don't have to wait for shows to get animals, they can get them at any time online.
