Asbo has a growth on his head

kellybee Oct 09, 2007 09:30 AM

Hi all,

Asbo has had for about 3 weeks a little white patch on his head that I thought was the remainder of his last shed. I have dabbed mineral oil on it a few times but being so small (he's actually up to 12g now) and wriggly it is difficult for me to hold him still whilst I use a cotton tip to remove the skin. Anyway, it didnt come off, so today I grabbed him and got the oil out again, but I can see clearer now that it appears to be a little LUMP, kind of clear in consistency, but due to his size and ferocious nature I cant tell if it is liquid or a solid mass. Its about He tries to use his back leg to scratch it when I dab oil on it, I dont know if its because he isnot liking the feel of the oil on his head or if it is causing him pain. He doesnt seem to pay any attention to it otherwise, and he's the same as ever, bouncing off the walls, power nap, bouncing again.

My vet is not available today, has anyone got any suggestions or have you seen anything similar? It must have grown quickly because it didnt seem like a lump a fortnight ago.

Dab it with a q-tip soaked in hydrogen perioxide, make sure it is not soaking/dripping , or you will get it in his eyes. Dab the wart (head on) lol. Try that for a week or so.

Of course ask your vet.

Hey guys, sorry not been around much, lots going on at home, have been busy separating from my partner.

Asbo shed at the weekend, tho the skin over his lump has not come off, it looks that silvery tone and doesnt come off with oil, but is still not any bigger. I took your advice and visited the chemist to ask for the peroxide, but he just looked at me funny and said something about terrorism and laws so I figure they dont sell that in the UK. Going to move them into my new home this week, so will take him to the vet in the same trip, save stressing him out twice, but he seems perfectly normal, apart from the fact that he is the only one still bouncing off the walls, the others are all reacting to the cold weather by sleeping lots and eating less.

Anyway, thanks so much for the advice I'll report back when I've been to the vet, and try to get a photo if I can tho I havent a clue where my camera is with all this moving business

Love to all x x x x
