Anyone know where I can pick up some hide boxes? Nothing to fancy.

Thanks
Will

For babies, I like to use 1/2 of a cardboard paper towel roll. Works great and disposable (no cleaning). I keep everything on papertowels, so I have a pretty much endless supply of these.

Home depot. I use drip trays for potted plants. I usually buy the pots that have one attached. Then after you pull it off you can cut the actual pot itself down and you 2 hides for about $1.00 (depending on the size you need).

I read about cereal boxes being used. My snakes seem to like them.

I don't use hide boxes in my racks.

Does that work out?

No problems here. I don't always use hides in my cages either. I have a snake room that is quiet and doesn't get any traffic so I think that has most to do with why I don't have any problems. They all eat and breed so I'm happy.

Kitty litter pans at WalMart for adults. $1.83 each. Dark plastic bowls for babies. 84 cents for a pack of 4.

I use the plant pot drip trays too, I cut a U shape out of one side then turn it upside down and it's like an entrance to a cave and I leave it kinda jagged but not sharp and my snakes use the rough edge to start shed, I know this because the face part of the shed is stuck to it and then the rest of the shed is wrapped around the tray's side usually the outside but sometimes the inside, makes it easy to see f they have shed at a glance and plus it's easy to clean up because the shed isn't stuck to substrate. Some of the snakes just hide under the newspaper anyway, so I just add the hide when they are blue and then remove it when they are done shedding. It works for me. I also use the plastic plant drip tray for water dish, they are wide and shallow so they don't get tipped over, plus the nice thing is you can buy them at Menards or Walmart in a variety of sizes and colors and best of all they are cheap! One rubbermaid and two trays per snake for your rack with one trip to Menards.

The kitty litter pans is what I use for my bigger balls as well. I get them from the local food city for $1.00 each and use my $5 soldering iron from Walmart to cut a hole on the bottom of the pan. The snakes usually hang out on top and pick the rats off from above on feeding day.
