Never used it before, but I wouldnt if I were you It is just way too dusty. Use Prevent-a-mite.

I've had mites twice from new animals add to my collection. I use the Prevent-a-mite in EVER tub I have and while the Prevent-a-mite settles, I dip the snake in a bucket with water and one bottle of Walgreen's Generic head lice shampoo. I dry them with paper towel and put them back in their tub. Worked both times. I've been told by different people who swear by one or the other and the mites always seem to come back. I do both and it seems to kill them. Everyone has different ways, I'm just sharing mine.

Good Luck

I have used the 5% Seven dust for years with nothing but success. Put the snake in a pillow case and sprinkle the dust in on top of them. Make sure they get good and covered. Tie it up and let them set for 30-45 minutes. After I remove them from the bag I soak them briefly in a little luke warm water just to remove the excess(do not wash it off. But I will tell you that it can be very dehydrating to very young snakes. Also it does nothing for the mites that may be crawling around in the enclosure or the eggs. For the tank, cage or tub/rack I wash it out as completely as possible. After rinsing while it is still wet I put some Seven dust in an old sock and dust the entire Enclosure inside and out. The water will cause it to clump and stick in all the corners and crevices. Any mites moving around or hatching are literly in the middle of a mine field. I know this seems like a lot of work but this is a technique that I started over twenty years ago, before Prevent-A-Mite. If your in a pinch try it, just make sure to give your snake plenty clean fresh water.

I used the 5% a few times, and i actually sprinkle some into the tubs(,but you must remove the water bowls to do this.)Then clean it all out a few days later..As well as using it like carpet freshener in my snakeroom.
..and to echo what Jeff said...it can be very dehydrating to the little ones(anything under say 200 grams or so)

I've used on the carpet as well. If you have a dog or cat and get a flea problem its a 100% safer then any commercial flea product. I'd just recommend a vaccum with a hepa filter. cough, cough

Josh, Its pretty simple. The container should have a shaker top. Put the snake down inside the pillow case. Then just shake the dust in on top of him/her. Once you start shaking it into the bag you will see that its going to cover some parts of the body more then others. just move it around so that the animal is pretty well covered. Theres going to be quite a bit of dust so try not to breathe it in. Tie the bag closed and put it aside while you clean the enclosure. I usually do 30 minutes for smaller snakes and 45 minutes for larger ones. Usually enough time to complete the cleaning process. pull the snake out of the bag dip him/her in some luke warm water to remove the excess and then just put them back into the clean/treated enclosure with some fresh water. When the snake dries you will see that it has a hazy white residue on it. Thats good. I have never washed the residue off of the snake. I just wait until it sheds. That residue will help if any mites make back to the snake and should stays active long enough to complete the life cycle of the mites. The dusting process is also something I do for all new arrivals before putting them into Quarantine. Just be very mindful with very young sankes as they can dehydrate pretty fast.

Good Luck, Jeff
