There have been some great pics of some beautiful snakes posted lately, here's my attempt to keep up. Took the little guy outside with my Junior Snakekeeper (11 year old son) and snapped a few pics. I think the second picture is the best one I've gotten so far.

Thanks for looking.

Well, I got one out of three kids who seems interested so far.

Yeah, I'd love to see some black pines (and some black kings), it would be neat to line the pics up side-by-side with the Indigo to see how similar they look and how they differ.

I'm still learning how to take good pics of Jack. I'll have to experiment more with lighting ang backgrounds You're right, I need to take him out early one morning in the sunlight!

Very nice pictures, I really like the reddish orange blending in to the black area. How big do Indigos get?

Aubrey,

Thanks. I was lucky to get one of the most nicely colored in the litter. Indigos max out at about 8 feet, so I'm expecting this guy to be around 6.5 to 7 feet long in a few years.

Very nice looking. Keep posting pictures. I can't wait to see em at 5 or 6 feet long.

Here is my black pine. If I remember correctly, someone here on this forum has a black king snake. I think it is a lady in Ca., but I don't remember her name. Maybe she'll see the post of you asking to see other black snakes and she'll put up some pictures.

Rob,

Thanks for the pics, that's a cool snake! How big and old is it?
One difference I noticed is the scales on the head, the Indigo
has fewer/larger scales than the Pine.

Thanks again for sharing the pics.

These signs are posted a very few places in Georgia. This one is at William Smith State Park about 55 miles from here. I have not seen an Indigo there but I have seen shed skins around some of the Gopher Tortoise burrows in the park. There are more of these signs posted at General Coffee State Park and near some of the Gopher Tortoise colonies on the Fort Stewart Reservation.
