i would like to purchase 2 eastern box turtle babies. but the weather her is starting to get cold alredy. what would you recomend keeping them in for a encloser till spring when they can be moved to the out door pen. the following winter they will stay outside. any ideas or comments.

kinda depends on where you live, if in the northern range, I personally wouldn't take any chances outside, most reptiles don't really have to brumate their first year, but don't be surprised if they go off feed for awhile anyway and if they do stop feeding, be sure to remove any heat and keep them as cool as possible. Mine didn't fully brumate the first year, but they didn't eat much and weren't very active for about two months (Jan & Feb), but from the second year on, they have brumated for 6 months of the year, in fact I think with the cold front we had last night I probably won't see them untill next March or April Good luck boxies are the coolest, they are like quiet little puppies with a shell
