How fast do babies grow?

Buggzter Oct 10, 2007 01:55 PM

I'm feeding mine once a week on a large pink or peach fuzzy, and he seems happy. I'm about to order the frozen feeders for my critters shortly for a 6+ month supply, and want to make sure I get enough pinks and fuzzy mice but not so many I won't use them. How many months does it "normally" take for it to get to hopper mice? Small adults? What's the largest feeder that you'd feed to an "average" size adult snake, and how long does it take for the snake to get that size? Thanks for your help!

Krystie,
What kind of kingsnake do you have?

Some grow pretty quick. I have a young female splendida that went from large pinks to hoppers in about 6 weeks. I just watch the snake, try to give it optimum conditions and then let the snake tell me if it can handle more food or bigger food items.

I have an albino Cali king. He's growing, that's for sure, tho I can never tell when he's going to shed. The one shed he's had was completely clear! I wasn't expecting that. Thanks for your help, including if you have any more to come!

I bought an albino cali king back in December of 2004, he was a couple months old...
I was feeding him several pinkies every couple of days...
He shed usually once a month.
By the next year he was easily 24" and eating hoppers.... Then weanlings.... Then brumation... New season...
End of that season he was around 36".
Nowadays he's probably around 40", I'll have to measure him.

Some grow fast.
Some grow slow.

Feed it what it will eat.

I've had snakes that could eat fuzzies, yet I was still giving them large pinkies and such... Just give them a good number of mice, they'll be fine.
