Carpet Python Housing (Ideas?)

aziguana Oct 10, 2007 03:53 PM

I'm interested in getting a yearling or adult jungle carpet python in the next few months. I've had plenty of experience with snake husbandry but carpet python housing has me stumped. I generally try to stay away from using aquariums but I have an an oppurtunity to use a 90 gallon aquarium that measures 48"x18"x25". I would rather build a custom enclosure made from plexiglass. Also if I used portions of wood, how difficult is wood to clean and how well does it help hold humidity? If you have any suggestions or ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

i have the same dilemma. i have been wanting a carpet & have a glass aqua (90gals) which would be more than enough space, but i dont want to use the glass, i was thinking wood or one of those vision cages or something. i was also thinking of getting a wooden enclosure but not sure yet. when i do get the snake i will prob not put it in glass though as tempting as it may be.
