You are invited to the 3rd Box Turtle Conservation Workshop, to be held at the Patuxent Research Refuge National Wildlife Visitor Center in Laurel, Maryland, November 9-10th. This is the third in a series of workshops that bring together individuals actively engaged in box turtle research and conservation in order to assess the status of these species, the challenges they face, and to devise strategies to help secure their future. This workshop will focus on box turtle ecology, life history, and population status. The principal goals of this workshop will be to provide current information on population size assessment throughout the species’ range, and to develop strategies to initiate population studies where they are needed.

The keynote speaker is Dr. John Iverson, Biology Department, Earlham College, Indiana. Dr. Iverson has studied the population ecology of turtles and lizards for over 25 years, and will bring a wealth of experience and insight to our workshop. The banquet speaker is author and artist David M. Carroll. David Carroll has written several acclaimed books on turtles, wetlands, and natural history. David is an engaging speaker and we are looking forward to his remarks at our banquet on Friday night at the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.

The registration deadline is October 19th.
