So, im still having trouble in deciding what substrate to use, so I figured I'd just see what most of you all use...so what substrate do you use?

Focusing on the cage size and proper temperature gradient should be the biggest concern and then staying away from the obvious bad substrates, ie crushed walnut and calcium sand.

Agreed!! One thing to keep in mind is that when the lizard is done eating/basking for the day, it wants a place to sleep that offers protection from predators. While they dig burrows in the wild for this reason, it's not a requirement for well-being in captivity nor is it practical for most keepers. Whatever substrate you choose, it's important to offer your Uros multiple hides (crevices) that allow it to wedge securely. Most of the commercially available hides are too "domed" for Uros. Flat rocks from landscape/nursery facilities are a good choice. Obey the laws of area, diet & temps & Uros are relatively bullet proof.
