Western Hognose patterns

I have noticed that some western hognose have nice peanut-shaped saddles along their backs while others have two spots instead. Is their something that dictates which will be the banding pattern? Does it have to do with a locality, a genetic trait, a leaky het feature, etc? Thanks for any insight you have!
