Just Venting, Sorry (repeat)

Wallbanger26 Oct 11, 2007 02:56 PM

Here's what I don't understand. This is a forum. A place people ask questions/for advice and other people answer with the best knowledge they have to offer. Some people may agree, some people disagree. One guy does one thing, another guy does another. That's the point of a forum..... discussion. Why is it that some of you have the urge to attempt to be funny and sarcastic when people do things different than you do? If you don't cut eggs, great! If you cut at 57 awesome! 54 wonderful! I cut at 50 when I'm anxious and can't resist..... and my babies are fine. That doesn't make it wrong. It's just different than others. I don't tell people to do things my way, I just state what I do so the people asking the question have a reference. If you have proof that what I'm doing is wrong, present your argument in a respectable fashion and it might change my procedure, otherwise state what you do and stop being so judgemental. There's only one Satan on this forum and definately no gods. Sorry for venting but they rude, judgemental sarcasm has grown old.

a long time ago a really good and big breeder told me....

"you can do it one way and they can do it the exact opposite and you can both be correct in doing it your way"....

something like that......

.......wonder what would have happened to the babies that hatch on day 69 here if I would cut on day 50?

.....you do it ...you do it YOUR way.....

.......it's all good............?

You would've sat and waited for 19 days. At least that's my guess.

jyohe Oct 11, 2007 07:38 PM

wrong guess......

I would have watched the eggs die, dry out, be eaten by fruit fly maggots......anything could go wrong....

cut at day 1 and wrap plastic wrap around half of it then film what happens inside?....

new tv series on National Geographic..."Bionic Ball Egg" the $6,000,000 pastel........

?.......Thanxx for not just whining in here at me..

I find it funny that the rule of thumb on Ball hatching is say 55 days. BUT, if ALL the eggs are not pipping by day 56, then they cut them. People have enough patience to wait 55 days, but then totally lose it and cut like a madman at day 56.

Personally, I have heard alot of the arguements back and forth, and I just find it easier to let the babies pip their own eggs. NOW, if all but one pip on day 58, and on day 63 the last egg still has not pipped, I might cut to see if there is a problem, and usually there is.

jyohe Oct 11, 2007 07:44 PM

yea....

if they start they start........yes sometimes all eggs but one will pip and the one left is cut only to find it is a week and more behind the others?.freak? why...would it have hatched in a week and half and be Ok?........will it eat as a really little runt?......yes and no to all....some do some don't make it...

........this year I had a batch that started....I cut them all then..like 56 days or so?......one egg didn't stick it's head up.......all out and you could see that one was still alive.blood was red and flies weren't in it/at it......then the blood changed and turned and the flies landed.......it had a big hole cut in the top and still couldn't find it in itself to actually just roll over and stick it's head up........it was kinked back from head about an inch and half?......super pastel.......died and was too dumb, deformed to come out......duh........so YES at times it don't matter if you cut or not..

I kind of think of myself as God'ish' from time to time. Not in a religious sense but in a sort of...well...you know...Godlike sense. By the way...do I have a glow around me? ----- Matt Lerer 'Ghi Reptiles' Ghi Reptiles

annoying. So there are some heated debates on this forum. Who Cares!! That is a fact of life and you cant change it and complaining about it gets annoying. There's nothing you can do about it. It's a part of a forum. We're not all going to get along.

Wallbanger26 Oct 12, 2007 03:51 PM

Didn't ask people to get along. Actually promoted the arguing part. Just said to do it respectfully. No need to be negative and sarcastic. But that's obviously too much to ask.

LadyOhh Oct 11, 2007 05:51 PM

Discuss, keep it a discussion, and if it offends you, take a step back and think about WHY it does.

Is it really that bad, stop B*****n understand its a forum yes ppl will argue. Leave it at that I dont see any point for everyone to post a whole new post of how tired they are of it when all your doing is prolonging all the drama. So how about everyone drop the subject and move on in our lives. Dont bother VENTING back either, no point.

zefdin Oct 11, 2007 07:33 PM

Your absolutely correct I hate it when people complain about other people compaining. It makes me really made and I cant even sleep.

Lol

BlakeDeffenbaugh Oct 11, 2007 05:59 PM

All Kingsnake has become is a bragging post for people. Nothing else. There is no good information passed around on here anymore. There is just people who think they know everything because there best friends, sisters friend owns a ball python/whatever else you want to put in there. There are people that come here looking for information and never get it. Then they get turned off to reptiles because most snake people are big jacka$$'s. Unless you have 10K to spend right now most want ntohing to do with you. I cant even tell you how many times it has happened to me because I wasnt spending 2-6 grand. Now I am in no way saying EVERYONE is like that, there are some BIG names that do take the time to talk to anyone who happens by and would like to talk to them. But I know everyone who will read this can name off at least 5 who are if not more.

You have to many know it all and cocky arrogant a$$ on here that have to be heard and if they are not they go cry about it.

Judgemental sarcasm has grown old. . .very old your very right. The best thing to do is for people to say screw kingsnake. The classifieds are nice because they are the most looked at thing on the net reptile wise. As for their forums they are crap. They have mod.'s that think they are GOD himself. You say one wrong thing they will suspend you like your back in school, and delete the post. Just like I'm sure this one will because Kingsnake-all-mighty is being bad mouthed in it.

There are alot of other forums out there with people very willing to talk to people about their problems. However that number seems to be decreasing in numbers greatly. Anyway enough with my ranting.

Blake

JSpythons Oct 11, 2007 06:43 PM

I have never once seen you on this forum the time I have been here. There is good info passed around on here and I can guarantee you people aren't going to listen to you and screw kingsnake. This has been a great website for over what now, a decade? I'm sure there have always be disagreements but that's life so stop whining about it and just let it go.

BlakeDeffenbaugh Oct 11, 2007 06:52 PM

First I have been here a long time. As for me not posting here anymore is because of the people mentioned before. How when someone asks a simple question, people degrade them for it. MANY people have left here and will never come back because of the same thing.

As for what I say. Dont matter if people listen. All they have to do is get stomped on be people degrading them for their questions or opinions. Much as your doing now. . . so your just as bad as everyone else.

As for me whining? Look whos talkin JS. . .

JSpythons Oct 11, 2007 07:12 PM

How exactly am I whining? I'm not the one complaining about how people are rude. I'm not denying that people are rude. I have been stomped on by others and I agree, it makes this place suck sometimes. But I like how you can get the info here. I love this place. I just don't think that its reasonable to think that everyone's going to get along. You say be nice and don't be rude, but look at what you're doing. You're not much better. I'm done with you and this thread so have fun complaining that won't get you anywhere. Good Luck

kingsnake.com is the central hub of the investment reptile world.. It will NEVER change.. Get used to it.. This is the greatest/worst place for our community.. There is great information shared, you just have to keep your eyes peeled and read between the lines.. Husbandry and general reptile knowledge isn't the only thing gained.. Character and ethics evaluation are an immense tool in this investment/hobbiest community as well.. Take the good with the bad and use it to your advantage.

illbeyoursoldier Oct 12, 2007 09:08 AM

I remember the "Enough is enough" post. As soon as I posted on it, it was taken down. I remember the first response to it that I disagreed with...
... but in THIS post, I genarally agree with BlakeDeffenbaugh and Wallbanger26. Judgemental sarcasm has grown old... I think if the same question has been posted over-and-over again, the next person to post that question deserves an answer just as much as the guy who originally posted it ten years ago.

I am newer to this hobby (maybe not as new as some), but that doesn't make my questions any less credible or valid than anyone else in this forum, nor does it make me ABOVE anyone else. There are going to be new people entering this hobby every day, and I agree with Melinda who responded to the "Enough is Enough" post when she said something along the lines of that she'd: rather have people ask questions and get the right information, and sure, they could take the time to do their own research, but that's what we're all here for, to help eachother out. I mean, since when is the spread and increase of knowledge a bad thing?? Some people treat it like it is.

It's a shame that you have to think about your question and apologize for it before you even get a resonse. DISCUSSION IS NOT ALWAYS DISCUSSION. The "Darkside" post, for example, was not even remotely the sharing of opinions. It became more Ad Hominom, an "attack to the man," sometimes having little to do with the issue. DISCUSSION can be heated but it should not be DISRESPECTFUL. There were insults, discouragement of business and sales, making fun of signatures (I mean, come on, seriously, are we in high school?? Than again maybe we are with the Moderator Gods), belittling, whose thingy is bigger (metephorically speaking), and whatever else!! And that was not the only post.

I think this is the kind of hobby where it is NECESSARY to be open minded. Though I may disagree with cutting eggs and breeding very young males... I say the power to the people that do, and can do things that some of us cannot. Though you disagree, the person should not be disrespected. I would be more than willing to hear opposing views to mine and let them try to convince me otherwise. You never know if you might learn something from them. What they do may be talent, not necessarily taboo. This forum should not be a competition for who does things better.

And I have experienced the breeders that don't want to deal with you because you are not (and probably never will be) high-dollar material. But that's a whole other story.

I don't know about everyone else, but I LOVE to talk snakes to anyone that wil listen... and even better... anyone that will talk back. Shouldn't that be the same for anyone in this hobby, on any level?

Just my $0.20. No disrespect intended. If you are offended, I apologize. That would not have been what I was going for.

Well put. I feel the exact same way. Cheers!!!

jaysitesreptiles Oct 11, 2007 06:35 PM

It's a public forum the concept is real easy. If you don't want to debate stay away from threads that are debatable. If you don't want to risk being put under a microscope for how you do things, keep them to yourself. A public forum is a place to post anything they want pertaining to that subject, thus the name "open forum." My advice to anyone who geth thier feeling hurt easily is to stay away from public forums, it happens on them all..just my two cents
-----

zefdin Oct 11, 2007 07:17 PM

Yup....well said.

From my perspective:

They are your snakes, I do not want you to blantantly hurt them because I think snakes are gentle curious animals that I really care about. I am interested in what you do and your techniques because I may want to use some of them. I like to share the stuff I do because I like to help people by nature and - frankly, I think I have some pretty good ideas and I like to see people copy me...it is flattering in a way.

Other than that, I really could give two craps if someone cuts all their eggs on day one, makes a freakin omelete, and eats them. If someone breeds their male @ 300 grams and makes some babies - good for him/her and the snakes. If you pre-treat ALL new snakes for parasites regardless - have at it.

The snakes are their owners property, to do with as they see fit. It is no one elses business how they raise them.

Ha ha..I LOVE the ball python crowd! I dont even own any nor do I ever want to.I just come here for the drama!

TerryHeuring Oct 11, 2007 08:11 PM

I cut 94 eggs this year at 50 days, did not lose a single snake or have any problems.Terry

thebigsquease Oct 11, 2007 08:47 PM

I had close to 250 eggs this season. I cut: ZERO. I do not believe a fertile, healthy egg needs to be cut. I don't wish to debate the issue, but I just believe you are asking for trouble, when you cut your eggs. Like any good topic, there are people on both sides of the issue.
Just mark me down for NO CUT.
Thanks.
