disinfecting wood

fantasyxbabygurl Oct 11, 2007 08:32 PM

Ive seen branches and stuff at the pet shops but most of them are just too small for a large boa enclosure. Is there a way to disinfect yourself and make it 100% safe?

I also ask because i was thinking of useing bark peices to make the walls and background of my homemade wooden enclosure. I can readily get the bark but its probably no safe the way it is....

You could put it in the oven, or with things like rocks and stuff you can boil it. I believe that you're supposed to go at least 15 minutes at 350 degrees in the oven, but I may be mistaken.

Cages By Design sells fiberglass logs. They also have fake rocks than can be mounted to walls. Very realistic and yet completely washable and waterproof.

You can use 2x4s as branches. Also, Lowes, etc sell pine logs for fence making. They are about 3 or 4 inches in diameter and 6ft long, with no bark and sanded down some.
