Differentiating the sex of a brown Anole visually, is easier than with green Anoles if you ask me. The female typically has a diamond like pattern running down her middorsal region, that unlike green Anoles' middorsal line, I've never seen in a male (who knows though). Other than that, the same basic rules apply. Females are less hefty, they're small in proportion, tinier heads, much shorter STL/SVL, with smaller dewlaps. Also better to tell apart with the brown Anoles than with greens, is the dewlap. Male brown Anole dewlaps are exorbitantly vibrant compared to that of the females. And you can always look for two large post anal scales on the tail base under the vent in males. Males also can be found with high dorsal crests/ridges.
