Extremely tired, stressed, and torn...

JenHarrison Oct 12, 2007 10:18 PM

I'm sick, my 18-month-old daughter is extremely sick and has been for the past 6 days -- tonight at Urgent Care they put her through complete hell and think she has a kidney infection. She's really freaked out now and in pain because of what she had done and the giant shot of Augmentin they gave her. My het clown female is still violently ill with an RI and I feel like I have to continuously watch her and my daughter to make sure they're OK. I don't want to leave them all tomorrow...

...BUT I have 2 racks to pick up from AP, a clown male to pick up from Alex Hue (all 3 already paid for), a bottle of Baytril to pick up from a friend, and 2 snakes to deliver to someone. I can't just skimp out on all of this because I have no way of getting my stuff or getting these snakes to the guy I promised them to, but I'm too damn worried about leaving all the sick living things in my house.

I have had just about the worst week of my life and am worn out beyond recovery. I need to just vent here I guess...I don't know what to do...

Take care of the kid and ask Alex to hold the snake for you, go pick up the rack, and check on the snake when you get home...

Hi Jen,

You sound like you need some (a lot!) of help.. may I ask where you are located? Maybe some of us are nearby & can lend a hand..

I'm in Madison, WI -- about 3 hours north of Tinley. The problem is that it's so late right now and most people local to me have already left and gone down the night before.

Yikes.. I wish I were closer! I'm all the way up in MA. I bet if you spoke with the breeder he would hold your clown under these circumstances. Your main priority should, after all, be your child! (Even though we're all super worried about your snake..) & maybe your friend can deliver your meds to you? Just a thought. Never be afraid to ask for help darlin'.. most often times people are honored to be able to give it.

Best of luck & I wish I could help more.

Sorry to hear of your pain Jen, but keep it together and work through it. Things have a way of working themselves out given time, but you must stay strong!!
At 62 years of age, I can speak from experience, don't waver and be 'bloody minded' -you WILL get through it!!

Me personally, I say f the snakes. Take care of your daughter first. You dont have any family that can assist? My wife and I would assist you but I am no where near your location.

Good luck with everyone.

My dad can watch her, but when she's that sick, I don't like leaving her with anyone other than me.

Well, I left late this morning after waiting for my daughter to get up so I could check her temp and give her some Motrin (dad came over to watch her). I got into Madison and basically just started crying and turned around. I called a friend that was hanging out with Alex, he's going to ship the clown on Monday. The friend was also picking up the 2 snakes from me for his buddy so he said it'd be fine to ship them instead. I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone at AP since I don't have their cell number, but I'm going to see if my buddy can stop by their table and let them know what's going on. I feel really crappy that they had to haul my 2 racks all the way from Iowa and then I didn't pick them up, but I'm sure they'll understand because I'm a repeat customer and they've always been really friendly and professional. I just couldn't make myself drive down there...Zoe's not any better today and even though the het clown shed, she's still rough. The first dose of Cipro may not have kicked in yet, and I don't know if Zoe's illness is even affected by antibiotics -- it may be a virus. The culture for a kidney infection takes 2 days to get a definite answer.

I feel like an idiot venting on here to all of you who don't know me from Adam...it just seems like most of you would understand because a lot of you have kids and all of you have reptiles too. Not many people in my real life that would get me that way. Having to deal with everything by myself for the past year without my husband has really worn me out and I think I'm just emotionally tired of having to deal with it...I want him to come home so we can be normal and I'm not alone with a million responsibilities to take care of. It seems like it all happens at once and all I want is just for everything to be OK...

Thanks for responding even though you don't know me...

Jen as a mom with four kids and reptile Kids. My heart goes out to you. I hope your daughter gets well soon, It is the hardest thing to watch your kids being that sick and not being able to do anything. I am pulling for your het clown also. In a few days hopefully things will start to look up.

Jen, I just went through the URI on my female het Clown, Do your self a favor and have your Vet give you a como dose of Fortaz and Amicasin it will knock the URI out in a few days, Just make sure what ever you use keep her hydrated even if you have to inject her with fluids. Good Luck

She's on Cipro oral every 48 hours right now with upped heat. Hydration shouldn't be a problem, they always have fresh water. I also sucked up extra water into the syringes when we mixed the solution. If I don't see improvement after 2 doses or she gets worse, then we use something else.
