That used to be Brian Sharps calico. Now it's Dave's. That was the big secret that Dave was talking about a while back.

What a cool looking snake. Kinda looks like snow covered mountain peaks. Have you heard of any other calico BRB's anywhere?

My BRB male has a single white scale, does that count? In my case that white scale is just a scar. I bought him as an adult and he already had one or two spots on him that look like scars from rodent bites. Very small areas but he eats frozen thawed for me no problem so I won't be adding to his battle scars.

The Calico is quite interesting, be fascinating to see if its genetic or just a aberrant loss of pigment as they get older. If I recall correctly it was born looking normal but I could be wrong...

the calico is a single wild caught specimen
Bob

strictly4fun Oct 13, 2007 03:48 PM

do start changing after the first couple of years and also there is a CV exotics pairing that is producing some calicos that also changes after a year or two

Just going by info in DM which I would have assumed it to be correct since I'm sure he talked to Brian but what's the real deal Dave, come on tell me When did it start turning?

On Brain Sharp Reptiles letterhead paper, my invoice from Brian,

Invoice/Receipt

Sold to Dave Colling 1.0 Anerythristic and 0.1 Het anery Brazilian Rainbow boas Captive bred and born in 2007 at my facility. Sale Price anery male = $(amount withheld) Plus het anery female $(amount withheld). Also sold 1.0 adult Calico/Pied Brazilian rainbow boa for $(amount withheld)

This animal was purchased by another party at a reptile show in CA several years ago. It was normal in color at that point, but began to change color as a yearling.

I bred this male to only one normal female a few years ago and produced a small litter of normal looking babies. Two pairs were sold to different individualsand I kept the rest to raise. A thermostat failure some months later resulted in a yearling/juvenile rack overheating and all the babies dies. I have not bred the male since.

$(amount withheld) paid in full.

Signed Brian Sharp 9/19/07

The prior info is word for word handwritten by Brian. I'd have to believe that John's info in DM is incorrect.

The one piece not spelled out is that Brian purchased this animal for a large sum of money as a calico/pied from the person who bought it at a show in CA after it colored up into the calico/pied

I'm starting not to like JB too much even though I like the St. Pierre stock of bloods better than his but what you gonna do besides have someone critique it for you but hey you should come out with a BRB calendar Dave (I would buy one)
Bob

rainbowsrus Oct 13, 2007 04:49 PM

Give me a couple of generations and I'll know for sure.

You are correct, the calico male was normal and developed this coloring as it aged.
