corn snake not feeding

karlos79 Oct 13, 2007 02:27 AM

Hi I have a corn snake which is about 10 months old, everything was fine until her last shed, she now has only eaten about 4 pinkies in about 3 months. I have tried nearly everything apart from force feeding. She is drinking fine but not shed for a while. She is getting very skinny now and turns away from food. Any ideas? Don't think she will live much longer at this rate.

are you giving a couple days between attempts?

have you tried leaving a live pink in the cage overnight?

at that age pinks might be too small, maybe she wants something bigger. although i have adults that will take a pink when offered

Been leaving it 5 to 7 days between attempts. She was eating fuzzies but turns away from them too. Haven't tried her wit a live one, but tried braining a pinky and left overnite but still there in morn.

try a live fuzzy and get some real stinky mouse bedding to scent it with, leave it in overnight

10 months old?
Corn snakes typically hatch in July, not January.

4 pinkies in 3 months?
This is not a good feeding schedule. Baby snakes need to eat at least once a week.
