Morph Help!

GrotesqueBurgess Oct 13, 2007 08:42 PM

I'm not getting a huge response from the morph section of this forum, and I'm an impatient person, so I'll post here too. I hope none of you will be upset

I would like help identifying my new baby leopard geckos (morphs). I was told that two of them are patternless, but because they are different colors, I'm hoping that someone can be more specific. I'm pretty sure they can't be the exact same thing. I'm under the impression that there are other morphs that fit under the patternless name. Any ideas?

The other baby is really orange (more so than any of the other leopard geckos at the place I bought them.
The first two (patternless) have orange tail-bases, if that helps with any identification. Oh, and I'm sure you can see by the pictures, but the one "patternless" has his little spots in a completely different pattern than the other, like a stripe. I'm not sure if that is of any significance.

Here are pictures:

You have 2 patternless (for you snake people, leucistic), and the third appears to be hypo or super hypo, wont know for sure for at least a couple months. And the color in your pic looks just strange enough that I can't really give you any good indication on that, sorry. The third may be a tang, but again, can't really tell from that pic.

The color seemed pretty true to life to me, but I'm posting another, just in case it was off. It really does have that airbrushed with orange look to it. I thought the other picture would have been good because it shows that his/her orange isn't yellowish at all, unlike the yellow patternless.
I looked up pictures of hypo and super hypo babies, but they all seem yellowish. The tangerine babies look much more like him/her, although some of them looked yellow too (maybe just a mis-naming on the part of the owner though).
His/her color is like a reddish pumpkin.

So, the patternless are going to change colors? Are there no names for just the colors, or is anything without bands/dots , no matter what the color, just called patternless?
Like, with rats, the marking of a colored head with a colored stripe down the back is called "Hooded", but a hooded could be a black hooded, a lilac hooded, a fawn hooded... you get the idea. Are there no distictions with patternless, like high-yellow patternless or anything?

Forgive my stupid questioning, I'm new to leopard geckos and just want to understand it all.

I'd say you have a nice tangerine then, most likely hypo. As for the patternless, any blotches they have now should fade out. Adult patternless are a solid yellow, of any shade, with a white tail, and of course, no black spots. Generally, the yellower a patternless the higher "quality". Color can run from a tinge of yellow, to lemon, to apricot. I don't know of any distinctions there, hence the requirement of pics when buying.

Correction- that is a hypo tangerine Baldy. (no head spots) MAy very well go super hypo- it looked like it had more black spotting in the first pic.
