Using wood for carpet python

aziguana Oct 13, 2007 09:17 PM

I am currently planning on building an enclosure for a carpet python and this is my first custom housing. My only questions are: How hard is wood to clean? It seems like it would absorb moisture? On that note: How well does wood hold humidity? I plan on using particle board with a veneer cover. The front would be a plexiglass sheet for viewing. Thanks

Bare or unsealed wood in a cage can be very hard to clean. If you are only referring to the walls, floor etc. of the cage, then I would say it it's sealed properly it's as easy to clean as most any cage. Likewise, it should hold humidity well.

When you say particle board with a veneer coating, I'm guessing you mean something like melamine coated particle board? If so, then the product is already sealed and quite easy to clean, provided the melamine surface holes up.
