I am wondering about the old sweaty t-shirt bit. I know it works with tegus. I've tried it with two tegus; yes I know it's not a large enough sample size. Would it work with monitors. In theory this is how it works.
Find his favorite hiding spot. Place a sweaty t-shirt in it. The tegu will associate security with your scent. Thus trust will ensue.
Just was wondering. I need to get all these questions out of my system before actually owning a monitor.

haha. I tried this with my tegu's and my first monitor. I actually think it worked better with my monitor. They seem more intelligent and calculated, whereas tegu's will bite anything that moves. So who knows...I only tried it once so far.

Cant say anything for the T-shirt idea.
But honestly, it shouldnt be that hard to establish trust- just dont treat it like an object; when it wants its privacy, leave it alone.
When it gets used to you and wants to interact, itll let you know- by doing exactly that.
Think of it more like a really nervous, ultra paranoid person with super senses.
