I had a batch of around 60 pupae of mealworms in a tub, waiting for them to emerge. About 25 have, but not completely. Some of them have messed up wings. Nearly all of them just lay on their backs, half emerged for days. I'm pretty sure they are dying. I can understand something like that happening to one or two, but EVERY SINGLE ONE? What could be going wrong?
I grew them with high-calcium cricket food (it says it's good for other feeders too), and that's what they were laying on when they emerged. The room is around 75 degrees. They are in a plastic tub. Am I doing something wrong? What is messing up my beatles?
I have my superworm pupaes in the exact same matter, so if something is wrong with my setup, tell me now so I can fix it before they emerge and succumb to the same fait.
