you cant tell morphs just by looking at the dragons colors.most dragons in the u.s. bloodlines now a days have some sandfire in them somewhere down the road. he looks like a normal to me, maybe some sandfire, pastel. not sure about being hypo though, doesnt look it to me.

best thing to do is contact whoever you got him/her from and get the bloodline info. too many people out there just throw incorrect bloodline and morph labels on their dragons these days, reason for all of the inbreeding

Not a good example of a snow morph, unless he is very young still, under 2 years. Snow morphs tend to get more white as they age but all are rather 'ghostly' looking.

Very nice looking dragon regardless of his genetics. At 22" it is even possible he may have some German giant in him, though its not unusual for regular lines of dragons to reach that length. Wild inland bearded dragons can reach 24" German giants tend to get bigger.

Poseidon's about 1 year 3 months :O) I do hope that his color will get lighter as he sheds... his body is more longish than my snow girl, who is lighter than him at 9 months and also more broad in all appearance. His tail alone is 12 inches....

Some say he looks like a normal morph..but as I never seen a normal in person, its bit hard for me. Aren't normals more dark and brownish in appearance? He has no browns on him tho...

I don't even know what a normal is anymore. Seems like all dragons have a bit of something in them today. I took in a very sick older rescue a month or so ago (a vet is caring for him now) and he is almost black. I figure he is a "normal" but really is the darkest dragon I've ever seen.

I have heard of such dark dragons...almost black, they are considered Hyper-melanistic as opposed to hypo-melanistic. A hypo melanistic would just be lighter than normal, like my big boy while a hypo-pastel would mean a lightening gene (clear nails - a sure sign)... these from what I have gathered so far.

Even red, yellow morphs are all from nature - basically line bred or inbred in the past to obtain the reddest and the yellowest dragons.

Its all so cool and new to me :O) I love my Poseidon ha

a typical normal bearded dragon is dark browns, greys and tans. However some bearded dragons naturally occur with yellow/orange, especially in regions of red sands.

Some samples of normal bearded dragons.

This link shows a couple nice looking normal bearded dragons found in the wild.

That was really useful :O) Thanks!

He lighten to a very pale ghostly color when he is sound asleep.... just a light colored light bred old school snow morph I guess - with dark nails. Those with clear nails - are either called Hypo snows, white hypo pastels or marketed leucistics and are much lighter in general..some since birth, whereas simple hyper melanistics or light colored line bred normals (same as red (naturally occurring) colored line bred normals) like mine...I deduce only lighten with subsequent shed (i pray)..lol

He's my rescued dragon that is very dark. I haven't seen him in so long I don't even know if he's mine anymore. lol.
