7 y/o Musk Turt keeps rubbing his nose

sheri Oct 15, 2007 07:58 AM

I have had him for over 7 years, and recently he has become a bit lethargic and is constantly rubbing his nose with his front feet. He has been eating a little less than usual but pooping just the same.
This is something new that he has never done before.
Is this something I should be worried about? I know that turtles are susceptible to respiratory infections, but his breathing seems fine. Any thoughts?

I have only noticed this behavior in RES that have skin irritation due to dirty living conditions. Try changing the water and upgrading your filter system and water change schedule. Barring that working, I would look at other husbandry perameters. Has the temp decreased at all this fall? Are there any other clinical signs that you are noticing?

Good luck,
Ian
