I have a tortoise and dont know what kind it is. I have sucatas, russians and a leapord but cant figure out what this is. ANy specialists out there?

It looks like Manouria Emys Phayrei. Contact Vic Morgan he will be the best guy to help you identify Black or Brown, he is also the most recognized expert should it be a M.E. Phayrei!

I think I jumped the gun on this one... I was looking at the beak and not paying close enough attention to the underside of the shell.

I agree, either desert tortoise or perhaps a Berlandier's (Texas) Tortoise. Where did you find it acquire it? That would help too.
