Florida lizard

lordotheringtoss Aug 22, 2003 05:39 PM

We were (my family and I) vacationing in Florida (on the gulf side) and saw quite a few lizards around our resort. They were all of the same sort, and we were wondering exactly what species they were.

They are roughly and inch long excluding the tail (of course these may be young) and are somewhere between being striped and spotted. Very thin, with spidery toes. My father, not aware of the care and equipment necessary for caring for lizards, took some home without us knowing as a surprise. I did the best I could. I knew something about lizards in general. I got some very small crickets from a friend and I fed them. I got a ten gallon aquariam and covered the bottom with bark mulch and placed a few logs and branches. I got a 75 watt basking bulb and propped it up next to one end of the glass. I also got a water dish.

We're about out of crickets, and I need some advice. Am I doing things right so far? Where can I get crickets small enough for these little guys? Should we raise crickets? What kind of lizards are these? To put it simply, I need all the help (advice) I can get. I'd like to do my best to keep these critters alive.

THanks, your advice would be appreciated.

They could eb some sort of medteranian gecko but there so many gecko species there it could even be a tokay egcko yeah just feed them cikcts your local pet shop should have them if not on ks homepage theres cricket breeders deals etc. there easy enough to order yeah everything seems good since there in florida they like the humidty so mist the cage once a day keep a water dish out turn the light off at night or get a light timer at walmart . like 12 of daylight 12 hours orf night w/e if they were out during the day thwere not nucturnal btu i could be wrong they might haev just been hatched and just scampering around but w/e. If you could put pics up it would help greatly of the id and i could tell you how to care for it easier.
