Rosalita Update!

geckokrazy Oct 15, 2007 04:58 PM

Well she is haveing her first shed in our home. I am so glad to see her shedding. Isn't that a sign of growth? She is starting to fill out. I am happy to say that she is fitting right in with our family. My husband says I am out of my mind talking about her like she is one of our kids, But I caught him doing it too.LOL. I see now what you all mean when you say that you have been biten by the " beardie bug" They are awesome! Here is a pic I just took of her so that you can all keep up with her growth. She just had her first bath and now is basking in the light.

It's odd her eyes are closed. What are you using for UVB? Not a compact fluorescent right?

geckokrazy Oct 15, 2007 05:37 PM

No it is not a compact florescent. It is a Reptile ESU 7% UVB florescent strip. She plays the "I can't see you so you are not there" game with me when I get the camera. I will be posting some more pics of her in my gallery where her eyes are open. Does she look ok other than that?

Yes she looks good! Figured I check since some haven't heard of the issues regarding them and their removal from the market.

She's coming along nicely. Shedding is definitely a sign of growth for young dragons. Adults shed too, though not as often. Its how they change skin. Adults typically shed about twice a year, babies can shed as much as 2-3 times a month. But they shed in pieces...heads and legs, body, neck and tail, so some part of a growing babies body is almost always in shed all the time LOL.

As for the picture with her eyes closed, I think it was just the flash that caused her to close her eyes..or it was just a close shot and she closed her eyes thinking her eyes are in danger. My dragon will close her eyes if I hold anything close to her head (even if its still inches away).
