Mox_Sapphire Oct 16, 2007 01:20 PM

Is this likely to happen anytime in the foreseeable future?

Not because of rarity but because these animals are only found in isolated parts of Myanmar (formerly Burma) and the Myanmar Govt. must request a reclassification of these endemic animals along with evidence. Myanmar is not part of CITES signatory and could care less about this species. The military junta there is corrupt and only cares about keeping power.

Sadly, there are almost no wild specimens left. We should be thankful that there are small assurance colonies in U.S. and abroad so extinction should be avoided.
