Leucistic rat and corn?

snake_gal Oct 16, 2007 04:55 PM

Would my leucistic rat snake and okeetee corn snake live together? They are both 2 months old.
If i could, that would save me a little on the electricity bill. I'm not expecting to see them breed, but if they do, that would be cool. All three of my snakes are on heat pads.
Thanks for any input or suggestions.

The short answer is yes, but there are plenty of good reasons why you should not do it. There are a ton of past posts on this subject both for and against, but if you ask me, I wouldn't and I don't do it.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Ratsnakes can be pretty ophidiophagus, so I would suggest 1 snake per cage. Period. If you can afford the electricity/cage hardware on multiple cages, then you probably have too many snakes. All herpers exceed their limit at one time or another..... Since them breeding together would just make more confusing darn hybrids and NOT be "cool," I won't comment further on that....except to say please reconsider.

Housing a ratsnake and a cornsnake may just give you one fat ratsnake....if the meal isn't large enougfh to kill the ratsnake, too!
