2007 Circus ball

swreptile Oct 16, 2007 10:53 PM

Well, we were luck enough to help on proving the Circus ball. This is his daughter from a full sister sibling cross. I had two in this clutch. Looks like her dad did as a baby, but the head is a little different. I have another clutch do to hatch yet. I now believe in snake gods!

thanks for looking

Is the circus a variation on the clown gene? Like lessers and mojaves being related? Or is it something entirely different? It looks really funky, I like it.

Sorry , I don't see it . Very pusy pattern , but no clown attributes like the " Original " Circus Ball . Keep breeding and produce something closer in resemblence.....nice animal though , best of luck.

I think what Jim is trying to point out here is the fact that something genetic is going on , I agree it isn't a exact replica of the original Circus BUT this isn't a "normal" either.. I tend to agree with Ralph on this one , maybe it is some sort of marker or visual Het of some kind .. Not all the genetics in these Balls ends up with clear cut immediate outcome results, some of this stuff will take several linebred clutches to know exactly what is going on.. I do think Jim is on the right track and wish him luck getting to the bottom of this, perhaps the next clutch will explain even more.. Anthony McCain Reptiles...

No offense, but how can you say that the baby does not resemble the original Circus? No, it is not a replica, but it exhibits the traits. Busy Pattern, Check. Broken, black-back type stripe, check. Nice bands and half-melts, check. I wish the pictures were a little better, but it is still difficult to mistake the resemblance. Good job Jim & Nancy, looks like a great project. I honestly have not heard much about the Circus, is this a recessive?

Thanks and have a great day!

Sorry, but I don't see a great resemblence either. The older picture has a lot of clown like traits and looks way more yellow with white sections. I am not seeing this in the new one. It appears to be very "busy" patterned where the older one is lacking patten. Sorry, maybe it's the pics. Just my opinion.

I don't see much there, except a fat, healthy baby. The "moustaching" is there, very busy pattern, possible higher yellow, but nothing like the parent animal.

What are the genetics on the parent animal?

Let's see his parents, and hear about their genetics, and try to break it down. Let's assume one was 100% clown and the other was a 'special'- track the characteristics of the special. Breed Circus back to his mom.

Do you have more details? The circus was one awesome animal.

I'll echo those who say they don't see any resemblance.

Someone should post all the Circus ball pics, because I see a nice fat Pastel...we need something to compare it too.
