OK, who saw Brady Barr and the retic?

RobertPreston Oct 17, 2007 01:50 PM

If this has been discussed, I apologize in advance. I watched the show Sunday night on National Geographic and found it very interesting and quite entertaining. What do y'all think about the way those guys handled the retic? In watching it, I thought they had several opportunities to get control of the snake's head before it bit Brady, but then again, I've never wrestled a 12 foot retic while waist deep in bat guano and urine.
One thing I like about Brady is he isn't afraid to let the audience see his respect of the animals he's after. When he's nervous or hesitant, he lets viewers know. I find that refreshing.

I watched it and found it rather comical myself. I'm going to rant a little here.
I know they were studying "wild" tics and their habits. But he kept saying how very little was known about them and that they were on a scientific breakthrough mission to learn more. A simple care sheet tells you more than what they taught me on that show. And then he measures a 23 footer and says that it is believed to be the largest snake in captivity! "Fluffy" beats it hands down, and prehistoric pets has multiple 20 on display in there store.
I'll give him credit for the things he does like crwling into ardvark (sp?) burrows and all. But as soon as he finds something he acts like a 5 year old in Disneyland. He could've easily captured the tic that bit him, but he gets to excited and loses his cool. I don't know, he's more of a dramaqueen to me. Entertainig though!

I agree, he's very annoying and phony, like he's performing for a bunch of five year-olds who really believe that he's in such 'peril'. Give me a break.

I seriously hate that guy... he over does everything and is so dramatic... that was a good bite, but the rest of what he does is a joke... my snakes are bigger then these wiold GIANTS he goes nuts over... he gives snakes a bad name

The article I read it was a 7 foot retic that bit him. When I comes to snakes, I have no repect for him. Come on..."when it bit me it started pulling down and ripping," the snake was just holding on when he started running, the pansy. I have a 5 year old cousin who is clamer and smarter around snakes than him.

He has a different demeanor when he finds a snake than others do. He gets excited when he finds something, and acts hesitant when confronted with something venomous. I've always thought that was pretty cool. Made it seem more real to me. That being said, I thought he had several opportunities to catch that retic that bit him. He said it was 12 feet long; I don't know, but a 12 foot retic isn't that hard to handle, especially with two people (my mom and I have controlled 16-footers, and she's a small woman). I didn't find anything particularly earth shattering about their "discoveries," but it was still a fun show to watch. Anytime somebody gets bit by a fairly big snake and cries, it's entertaining. It was also funny how he made out like he was confronting death all over again when he went back in the cave at the end of the show.
