feeding time frenzy

My females are all so aggressive. So recently a few of my females and male have been picky about how they eat their food (the male has always been picky) in that they want me to put it infront of them so they can chase it down and pounce on it. If I put it in the dish, more often than not the worms end up dying before they realize they are there. So every night I through them a few and put some in the dish. Anyway back to the point - a month ago 2 of my females got in a bit of a scuffle and took identicle chunks out of the sides of their tails. So those two got the boot and put in their own tanks. Now I had two other females that seemed to be getting along fine. One is more reserved, doesnt mind to be held for long periods of time, never fights never nips, the other is more rambunctious (sp?) and a bit testy. I decided to try to breed the two with my male. so now hes staying over in their tank for a while. Well just as I was feeding them all by putting worms infront of them each, the testy girl saw the boy eating some worms and then got jealous because maybe he got some more than she did and bit his snout. i then picked her up and moved her away so shed forget about the whole thing. Anyway, what makes them all so violent (towards their prey during feeding) they have endless appetites, eat plenty, are pretty fat, have enough calcium, have a big tank to run around in. whats their deals!? Why is the female bullying the male?
Sorry this was such a long ramble im just frustrated with my little delinquents.

Maybe this will help you understand... In a colony sometimes a female takes the Alpha role kinda like in lion packs it doesnt happen often... if its just one of your females that bullies others I'd boot her out of the colny and replace her with the other females that are nicer. Hope this helps your post was long so I'm not even sure if this anwsers you question or not.

i have a very good feeling that your "females" are males. normally the females try to avoid the males and when they do fight its because the male is raping the female. thats what seems to normally happen so that is why i think you have more then 1 male and just dont know it. i had a gecko who appeared to be female and had no interest in humping the other females but as soon as i put it with a male they went at it (fighting)! anyhow he is now positively male. i would just double check the sexes. however they could be jealous but in the past i have never had that problem in community tanks.

no im positive shes a female, ive had her for a few years and shes laid eggs before. Shes smaller than my male and she acts kinda inlove with the male shes in with. they lay on one another and are always together werever they are in the tank. the other female more or less does her own thing. its only when worms are infront of their faces that they get excited. Im kinda the same way with my boyfriend when it comes to food thought so i dont know if i blame her.
