YESSS!! Poss Hets do prove out!! PICS

Shane Kinney Oct 17, 2007 11:45 PM

I bred a Jeremy Stone 100% Het G-Stripe male to a Anthony McCain poss het female that was part of a group of 5 poss het females. The first 3 females didn't prove out and I finally hit on the 4th female with 6 eggs resulting in 2 66% poss hets and 4 genetic stripes from a het to poss het breeding! Hows that for some odds! I look forward to proving out some more poss het females this season! It does take more patience producing them this way. Genetic Stripes have always been one of my favorites especially among the single gene mutations.

Congrats Shane, awesome clutch.
Possible hets are a great way to produce a snake that is simply out of financial reach for most of us. I think breeders on a limited budget are foolish to not try possible hets. Especially when they can buy 2, 3, or more possible hets for the price of 1. Great way of increasing their odds and if they miss, they still have an adult female breeder.

Grats!!...........I remember buying 50% poss het Albinos from Anthony back in the mid 90's...........and I proved most of them out to be het Albino.

Shane, glad to see you hit on those Genetic Stripes with one of my female Possible Hets!!! I told you it would be worth the investment! Some think my hets and possible hets are normals, you are the second or third guy this season to prove that NOT to be the case with animals that obviously turned out to be EXACTLY what they were represented and sold as!!! Take care Shane, and thanks again for posting this , it means ALOT to me anyway... ''
