"Calico" Sinaloans

Rick Millspaugh Oct 18, 2007 02:16 AM

Haven't been on KS in quite a few weeks, just got some pics of some wild looking Sinaloans I got this year. Not sure what to call them but someone that saw them said they looked Calico; sounds good.

The most extreme male in the clutch:

and the best female

Formerly “Never Enough Reptiles” but, I messed up and neglected to register the domain name or file as a business under that name. Since we are just small Hobbyists, I really didn’t think of protecting the name we have used for the last four years. Someone else is now Never Enough Reptiles LLC. And has a web site under that name. We did not move to Louisiana and we are no longer posting under that name.

First off they are bloody awesome! There not calicos but striped/splotched with pied marks. Spotched sins with pied faces and tails are not common, but are my favorite.

Best,
Vinny

the mix of the white pied patches and the faded pattern looked sorta Calico. I know it is not a true calico pattern.

Here is the only non faded pattern one in the clutch. He has an awesome stripe. I got some cool aberrances from this pair last year but this year they out did themselves.

Looks a little piebald to me. White tail and white tipped snout. The pattern is also similar to pied balls in that they usually have a very aberrant striped pattern. Whatever they are, they are cool.

Bob Applegate has been breeding these for MANY years, as have several others on here, including myself. Blotched Sinaloans seems to be the common name for these, as well as Striped Sinaloans. I have produced Albino's of these, as have several others. Cool snakes, especially when everybody else is breeding exactly the same snakes and getting the same results...abberrancies are nice.

from the splotched/stripped "Applegate" lines. I too have been working with them for a few years, including some aberrant albino crosses. What I found interesting with this clutch was all the aberrance (missing or faded) patterns, especially when blended with the pied spots. I have had the pied spots before but not the extreme amount of faded pattern. Until this year, I have not seen any of the faded patterns in other breeders stock either. So when I said "Calico" or "Granite", I was referring to the faded pattern, not the fact that they are Splotched.

More breeders seem to be coming up with some weird aberrances with the Splotched line animals, seems like there is a mix of things going on with them.
