Reduced Pattern

Tracy Barker Oct 18, 2007 07:07 AM

I really like reduced pattern animals and we have finally gotten some that are definately genetic. This baby that looks spot on to some we produced last year, and as they grow they look pretty awesome!

How is your reduced trait inherited (codom, simple recessive)? I have a group that appears to be simple recessive. They all have clear bellies, and many have a broken eye stripe (the black striped doesn't extend through the eye).

Founding female ovulating a couple of years ago:

One of this years babies:

A good example of the broken eye stripe and a mostly clear belly (although many have completely clear bellies).:

It's nice to see a reduced pattern that actually has a reduced pattern. That snake blows away most snakes that you usually see being called "reduced pattern".

That is very nice of you to say, I will photos a few from last year that I am raising.

I have a nice group of the "reduced / bandeds " and each time I breed them, they loose more black banding and the black "tightens up" more.......

I think the genetic reduced / bandeds will work really nice into the Spiders and Pins.....and any other mutation where you want the brown areas filled up with a "new color".

Tracy , what do you think of these ? First picture is the Dad, and the 2nd picture is 1 of the Reduced sisters , and 3rd is both . Reduced will enhance anything you breed them with . Clean crisp markings , that are high in contrast .

I like the look! I really think breeding the reduced pattern into Pastels makes some of the best looking Pastels! It will probably help the Clown too!

Here is a female my wife picked out at one of the recent Anahiem shows, purchased for a rediculously low price from BHB

My wife has named it the Amaeba Ball.

Those are beautiful Tracy, I love how clean they look.

How is your 'ultimate' reduced pattern project coming along? (the patternless one). Have you been able to reproduce those yet?

Vic.

Tracey, She is awesome looking.. I have a couple reduced animals from this normal looking female each year. Here are a few bad pics of some of the offspring. The mom looks totally normal..

how do you go about proving the pattern to be genetic?
